I discovered the joys of grape growing and winemaking early in life. After experimenting with growing various neighborhood grapevine cuttings, aging bottles of Martinelli’s apple cider in my closet as a child, and being obsessed with using my senses (in particular smell and taste), I left my hometown of Santa Cruz to attend UC Davis to study Viticulture and Enology. After Davis, I set out into the world to learn and gather teachings from winemaking mentors and gurus and develop my palate. My winemaking travels took me to vintages in France, New Zealand, and Australia, working in both the vineyard and cellar, before settling into winemaking positions at Williams Selyem and then Big Basin Vineyards. It’s been a quest of an irreplaceable and endless education involving tastings, vineyards and traveling before setting off on my own winemaking project and here we finally are at LOTIS Wines. I am so grateful to all who have inspired me, shared their teachings, supported my dreams and offered helping hands along the way. LOTIS Wines would never have come to fruition without these inspiring individuals.
